From time to time (lately meaning semi-annually. . . . workin' on it), I write in my kids journals so they can read it years from now and have a good laugh and so the person with the worlds worst memory (uh, me) can remember what they were like. I keep a paper in the kitchen cupboard for easy access to write down funny things they say, for journaling purposes later. Let's just say that Owen's comments generally takes up 7/8ths of the page. Tonight I was updating and thought I'd share some of the recent words of wisdom (or "What?-dom") from our four-year-old.
(Pulling into the Lowe's parking log) "Why is there Lowe's in the world if Olivia doesn't want to go there?"
(After stuffing a Mike and Ike in his mouth from the treat bucket) Mom: "Owen, is that what you picked for your treat?"
Owen: "No. . . I just needed some energy to pick my treat."
(Practicing for our Primary Program) Mom prompting him: "My prayers are answered. . ."
Owen: ". . . uh . . . and justice for all?"
"'May I be excused' is a fancy way to say 'Can I go play?'"
Mom: "Hey, Owen. . . what does the clock say?"
Owen: "Tick, tock, tick, tock"
"Hey Mom, you know watching a show will make my throw-up go away."
And lest you think Owen monopolizes the time with the microphone, Olivia throws in some good ones, too.
(After getting after her for repeating a bad word she heard at school) Olivia: "So, can I think the bad words in my head real quiet then?"
(To Owen) "I'm gonna be the killer, you're gonna be the deader." (Yeah, we're working on appropriate pretend time.)
"Dad has to make the money so our house doesn't burn out." (???)
"Mom, why don't you ever paint my hangnails?"

oh I just love the things kids say!
those are great....that is funny, I was going to write down some of little B's funnies tonight, and then read this. So great....we need to get together again. My children ask about yours - little B always refers to Owen as the other cowboy that he knows. :)
These are extremely funny. Your kids are the triple threat: Cute, well-dressed, AND hilarious? How can anyone keep up?
