Traditions and Things

We have a few little birthday traditions at our house:

Each year on their birthdays, I have the kids draw a picture of what they look like (or think they look like. . . this year, I'm sure Owen's will look remarkably like Batman). Eventually, this will act as some sort of timeline in a scrapbook that I have yet to start. Maybe in my Golden Years?

Next, I take their handprints (for the same "timeline purpose"--although, I'm gonna have a lot of handprints stackin' up if I don't get a move on!).

Then, at some point on the birthday, we take a few pictures. I used to take them to a studio, but then I remembered that I have a nice camera and a pair of eyes. Plus, it gives me an excuse to practice.
Sure, we also have the other normal birthday fun, but I am one that is always on the lookout for other traditions that we could incorporate into our own family. Does anyone have favorites they'd like to share?

Wow, Shar, gorgeous pictures of Olivia! Happy birthday! We were down there right by you in Lehi for my dad's party, but I didn't have my own car. I got an idea though of where you live!

Those are fantastic traditions. I might have to start them beginning with birthday number 2.
We have a tradition in our family that the birthday fairy comes and leaves streamers all over the living room.

I love these ideas. What kind of camera do you have? It's a Nokia, right? I really want to get a great camera and have some better quality.

It's a Nikon D80 and I like it a great deal. I also just got a nice lens that makes the pictures ultra sharp.

I can't believe Olivia is 7! Time goes by so fast sometimes. Claire starts kindergarten this week. I can't believe that either. I'm trying to get us on a early lunch schedule since Claire has to catch the bus way before we normally (for the past 5 years) have eaten lunch. When you where on this schedule did you just have Olivia eat at 11:00am?
